The South African Police Service, Gauteng Province have arrested a suspect wanted for committing murder and other violent crimes during a multi-disciplinary operation conducted in Mohlakeng, West Rand, on March 26.
It was gathered that the suspect was driving a white Porsche car when he failed to stop at a roadblock. The Gauteng Traffic Officers and other law enforcement officers chased the vehicle from the N12 roadblock to Mohlakeng where the suspect was arrested.
The suspect’s vehicle was searched and Police found in his possession an AK-47 rifle, 34 rifle ammunition, two empty rifle magazines and one 9mm empty magazine.
According to Capt Kay Makhubele, who signed a statement for the South African Police Service (SAPS), Office of the Provincial Commissioner of Eastern Cape, the suspect was positively linked to a murder committed in Evaton and two other serious and violent crimes in Klerksdorp.
“ Furthermore, a total of 67 suspects were arrested during the operation in Muldersdrift, West Rand. The suspects were arrested for various serious and violent crimes. Among the arrested suspects are 50 illegal immigrants.
The arrested suspects are expected to appear at various Magistrates’ Courts soon, ” he stated.
