To boost gender sensitivity and empowerment, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) is hosting the International Association of Women’s Police Conference (African Chapter).
The conference aims at bringing together women in law enforcement globally to share insights, best practices, and strategies for advancing women’s roles in policing and enhancing their contributions to national security.
This was contained in a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, Force Headquarters, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi. It was made available to Security Watch Africa (SWA).
The statement said “The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has reiterated the critical importance of gender sensitivity within the Police Force.
“Recognizing the pivotal role women play in ensuring effective policing and community engagement, the IGP emphasizes the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to promoting inclusivity and provide a conducive environment for the professional growth of women in law enforcement.”
The Conference, it said, will hold from 2nd to 5th July, 2024 at the International Conference Centre in Abuja.
The statement said that the conference will “evolve collaborative efforts as part of contributing to the global discourse on enhancing gender equity and promoting the active participation of women in policing.
“As the host nation, the NPF looks forward to welcoming esteemed representatives from various countries to engage in fruitful discussions that will undoubtedly catalyze positive changes in the landscape of women’s involvement in law enforcement.”
